Description

Went after another M target, I would like to get them all someday, not sure where I am, but I have a ways to go.  I have captured about 15 or so the past month of two.

M109 is a barred spiral galaxy in Ursa Major and was discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1781. In 1789 William Herschel incorrectly cataloged it as a Planetary Nebula.  It has a magnitude of 9.6 and is about 7.5 x 4.5 arc minutes.  M109 is about 84 million light years away and is the brightest galaxy in the Ursa Major Cluster, a group of 79 galaxies.  Also, in this image you can easily see two of its satellite  galaxies UCG 6969 and UGC 6923.
